What Purple Flowers Say Without Words

Purple has long occupied a singular place in the language of flowers. Historically associated with royalty, wisdom and spiritual depth, a purple bouquet speaks of admiration that goes beyond the ordinary. Where red declares passion and white whispers purity, purple suggests something more layered: respect tinged with intrigue, affection wrapped in dignity.

Lighter lavender tones convey grace, calm and a gentle fondness, making them ideal when you wish to express tender feelings without overwhelming intensity. Deeper shades—plum, violet, amethyst—carry weight and gravitas, signalling profound appreciation or even a touch of mystery. A purple arrangement tells the recipient that you see them as someone exceptional, deserving of a gesture that stands apart from the expected.

Best Occasions for Purple Bouquets

Purple flowers suit occasions where you want your gift to feel considered rather than conventional. They work beautifully for milestone birthdays, retirements and achievements—moments that call for recognition and respect. A bouquet in rich violet tones honours the significance of the event without veering into sentimentality.

These hues also lend themselves to expressions of sympathy and remembrance, offering comfort with quiet elegance. In a corporate setting, purple strikes the right balance between warmth and professionalism, making it a thoughtful choice for client thank-yous or colleague celebrations. For romantic gestures, deep purple adds an unexpected sophistication, perfect when you want to surprise a partner who appreciates subtlety over cliché.

Choosing the Right Shade of Purple

Not all purples carry the same emotional weight. Soft lilac and pale lavender feel airy and feminine, well suited to springtime celebrations, baby showers or gestures of gentle encouragement. These lighter tones bring freshness without intensity.

Mid-range purples—think heather or wisteria—offer versatility; they feel approachable yet distinctive, appropriate for friends, family or professional contacts. At the deeper end, plum, aubergine and true violet command attention. These shades project confidence and gravitas, ideal when marking a significant life event or conveying heartfelt condolence. Consider the recipient and the message: lighter for tenderness, darker for depth.

Mixing Purple with Other Tones in a Bouquet

Purple pairs gracefully with a wide palette. For classic elegance, combine it with white or ivory; the contrast highlights the richness of the purple while keeping the arrangement refined. Soft pinks and blush tones create a romantic, garden-inspired look, particularly appealing for weddings or anniversaries.

If you prefer vibrancy, introduce accents of yellow or orange—complementary colours on the spectrum—for a bouquet that feels lively and contemporary. Green foliage naturally grounds purple blooms, but silvery eucalyptus or dusty miller adds a modern, textural dimension. For a moody, sophisticated effect, pair deep violet with burgundy or dark red, allowing the arrangement to make a dramatic statement.

How True to Life Are the Colours in the Photos?

We photograph every bouquet under consistent, natural-style lighting to represent colours as faithfully as possible. However, slight variations are inherent in working with living materials: the depth of a petal may shift subtly between batches, and screens display colour differently depending on device settings.

What you can rely on is the overall palette and character of the arrangement. A bouquet labelled deep violet will always arrive unmistakably purple and rich in tone, even if an individual bloom leans marginally more blue or red than the image suggests. Our florists select stems at peak freshness, prioritising quality and vibrancy, so the bouquet you receive feels every bit as striking as the photograph that caught your eye.

Styling Purple Flowers at Home or in the Office

Purple brings depth and a sense of calm sophistication to any interior. In a living room, place a bouquet on a mantelpiece or coffee table where it can draw the eye without competing with busy patterns. Lighter lavender tones suit airy, neutral spaces, while deeper shades anchor rooms with darker furnishings or wood accents.

In an office, purple offers a welcome departure from the standard greenery, adding personality to a reception desk or meeting room without feeling unprofessional. Bedrooms benefit from softer hues—lilac or pale violet—that encourage relaxation. Wherever you display them, ensure the vase complements rather than competes: clear glass, matte white or brushed metal all allow the blooms to remain the focus.

Purple Flowers for Different Recipients

A partner or spouse will appreciate the unexpected elegance of purple, a choice that signals thought and originality. Deep tones feel especially fitting for long-term relationships where romance has matured into something richer.

For a parent or grandparent, lavender and soft violet express respect and affection in equal measure—gentle yet meaningful. Colleagues and clients respond well to mid-range purples, which convey appreciation without excessive familiarity. Friends enjoy the playfulness of brighter violet mixed with complementary accents, while for a child or teenager, lighter lilac paired with cheerful additions strikes an age-appropriate balance between pretty and fun.

Delivery & Care Tips for Purple Bouquets

Our couriers transport purple arrangements in protective packaging designed to shield delicate petals from friction and temperature fluctuations. Each bouquet arrives hydrated, with stems secured and blooms cushioned to preserve their form during transit.

Upon arrival, trim the stems at an angle with clean scissors and place them immediately into fresh, room-temperature water with any provided flower food. Remove foliage that would sit below the waterline. Display away from direct sunlight, radiators and ripening fruit to extend vase life. Refresh the water every two to three days, re-trimming stems if needed. With proper care, your purple blooms should remain vibrant for at least five days—often longer.

FAQ
What purple flowers are included in this collection?

Our purple collection brings together hand-tied bouquets built around violet, lilac and deep-purple blooms. Depending on the season, these can feature flowers such as lisianthus, alstroemeria, carnations and roses, arranged with complementary foliage by our florists.

Every bouquet is made in-house, so the exact mix reflects what is freshest on the day. Each product page shows a photo, the flower types and the sizes available, so you know what you're ordering before checkout.

If you'd like a particular flower or a specific shade of purple to lead the arrangement, add a note to your order or message our team and we'll confirm what we can do.

How much do purple bouquets cost?

Prices generally start at around £25.90–£29.90 for smaller hand-tied designs and reach roughly £60.90 for larger signature bouquets. Custom rose arrangements are priced separately, from £29.90 for 20 stems up to £69.90 for 100.

The size you choose affects the final price, and every product page shows the exact cost. All prices include VAT, with nothing added afterwards.

Delivery is free on many bouquets, while same-day courier options in London start at £8. The total is always confirmed before you pay.

Can you deliver purple flowers the same day?

Yes — in London we deliver same day in three-hour time slots, handed directly to the recipient by our own drivers and couriers. Standard same-day delivery is from £8, with an urgent nearest-slot option at £15.

Outside London, same-day delivery is available on orders placed before 15:00, except on Sundays, using Royal Mail Tracked and trusted UK couriers. Next-day delivery is also offered.

Availability depends on the recipient's postcode and is confirmed at checkout, so you'll see the options before you order.

Which areas of the UK do you deliver to?

We deliver to most areas across the UK, every day of the year including weekends and bank holidays. The available options are set automatically by the recipient's postcode at checkout.

Northern Ireland is the one region we don't currently cover. In London we deliver hand-to-hand with our own drivers; elsewhere we use Royal Mail Tracked and other trusted UK couriers.

To check a specific address, enter the postcode at checkout and you'll see the delivery options and timings available there.

How will I know when the flowers have been delivered?

You can follow your order in real time, and we send a delivery confirmation once it's been handed over. In London, deliveries go directly to the recipient, while elsewhere they're carried by Royal Mail Tracked and partner couriers.

For UK-wide orders outside London, more than 90% arrive on the chosen date, with the occasional delivery running up to a day later. For Royal Mail, timed instructions and proof-of-delivery notifications can't be guaranteed.

You can also message us any time through the app, WhatsApp, phone or email for an update.

Will the bouquet match the photo, and can I check it before delivery?

We work to match the arrangement shown on the product page as closely as we can, including the purple tones and overall style. As flowers are seasonal and natural, the exact stems can vary, and we may substitute any that aren't available with ones of equivalent value and quality, keeping the colour and look consistent.

Before your order is dispatched, we send a photo of the actual bouquet our florists have made. If you'd like a small change to the shades or balance, tell us and we'll do our best to adjust it.

Where possible, we agree any substitution with you in advance.

How long will the flowers stay fresh?

With proper care, our flowers typically stay fresh for up to 12 days, and we include care instructions with every order. We also back them with a 7-day freshness guarantee.

If something isn't right, contact us within 30 days of delivery with clear photos and your order reference. We review claims within five business days and, depending on the case, may offer a replacement, a full or partial refund, or a refund of the delivery charge.

Which occasions are purple flowers suited to?

Purple flowers work for a wide range of occasions — birthdays, anniversaries, thank-yous, congratulations and thinking-of-you gestures among them. Their richer tones also suit romantic gifts and more reflective moments.

Our occasion collections make it easy to match a bouquet to the moment, and you can add a card with your own message at checkout.

If you're not sure what fits, our team can help you choose by phone, WhatsApp or email before you order.

Can I add a card, chocolates or other gifts?

You can add a greeting card with your own message, along with extras such as chocolates, candles, balloons, a teddy or a gift hamper, all at checkout.

By default, every order is anonymous — the recipient won't know who sent the flowers unless you include your name in the card message.

Each add-on is listed with its price, so you'll see the full total before paying.

Can I order a larger purple bouquet or customise the flowers?

You can. Many bouquets come in more than one size, so you can pick a more compact or a fuller arrangement on the product page. For roses, our configurator lets you choose the number of stems — from 20 up to 100 — along with the colour and the size of the arrangement.

If you'd like a specific purple flower to feature, or a particular balance of shades, add a note to your order or message our team and we'll confirm what's possible.

Since we make every bouquet in-house, we have room to tailor it where we can.

Can I order purple flowers from outside the UK?

Yes — you can place an order from anywhere in the world for delivery to a UK address. Our website and payment system are set up for international orders.

We accept PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as major cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and others) through Shopify Payments, all processed securely. The cards shown can vary by region and card issuer. Prices are shown in pounds and include VAT.

You'll just need the recipient's UK address and postcode, your preferred delivery date and slot, and a card message if you'd like to add one.

What do purple flowers symbolise?

Purple flowers are often associated with admiration, elegance and thoughtfulness, which makes them a popular choice for showing respect, appreciation or affection. The shade ranges from soft lilac to deep violet, so you can match the tone to your message.

Lighter purples tend to feel gentle and warm, while deeper tones read as more striking and formal. That gives you scope to choose a bouquet that suits both the person and the occasion.

If you'd like help picking the right tone, our team is available around the clock by phone, WhatsApp or email.
